It's a tough decision when there's so much good stuff to choose from, but all these experiences have one thing in common: a perfectly organised cycling holiday. Experience Italy from a whole new perspective - from the saddle on an active holiday. Our most popular cycling holidays in Italy

South Tyrol

South Tyrol is an independent region in Italy and combines the best elements of Austria and Italy. This unique combination is the magical component that year after year attracts thousands of visitors to the area. For the same reason, several of our cycling holidays start precisely in South Tyrol. Discover the majestic mountains on Cycling Holidays from the Dolomites to Venice or Cycling Holidays around the Dolomites on Electric Bikes.

Lake Garda

Italy's largest lake has always attracted visitors from all over the world. The pleasantly warm climate and unique Italian charm appeal not only to water sports enthusiasts, but also to other types of active holiday and in particular cycling holidays. The southern part of Lake Garda has proven to be the perfect starting point for our Lake Garda Cycling Holidays, staying in the same hotel for the whole week. Many of our other cycling holidays end precisely at Lake Garda. How about cycling from Lake Resia to Lake Garda? North or south, Lake Garda is always stunning.

Veneto

Veneto is a very interesting area and home to famous cities such as Verona, Venice, Padua, Treviso and Vicenza. However, the region is not exclusively known for tourism. Veneto is an important wine region and most people are familiar with perhaps its most famous drink: Prosecco. Where wine is made, there are also picturesque vineyards and beautiful rolling hills; the perfect landscape for an unforgettable cycling holiday. Discover the region's highlights on our Veneto Cycling Holiday, Among Wine & Villas.

Worth knowing about Italy

Italy's climate

Italy's climate has something for everyone: from the mild mountain climate of South Tyrol to the subtropical climate of Calabria. The Italian Alps are characterised by very cold winters, so our cycling holidays in this area start in late spring. A little further south at the foot of the Alps on Lake Garda, the climate is much milder - relatively warm seasons are certainly not unusual here. Go even further south at Liguria, Veneto and Piedmont and you'll find typical Mediterranean temperatures. It gets warmer the further south you go in Italy at Tuscany, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia. But luckily it's only really hot in summer. In spring and autumn the temperature is perfect for a cycling holiday.

The Italian food

Do you eat divine food in France? Those who say so have hardly been to Italy. The variety of Italian cuisine knows virtually no limits. Each region has not one or two, but rather a whole menu of special regional dishes. You might prefer the hearty food served in South Tyrol, blended with Austrian cuisine? Or maybe you prefer the amazing dishes that the chefs of Piedmont have created with truffles and Arborio risotto rice? Not forgetting the delicious fish dishes of Liguria, Veneto and Tuscany. Whichever Italian region we're talking about, there are some brilliant regional dishes on offer! You never get bad food in Italy.

Tuscany

It is with good reason that Tuscany attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every year. If you close your eyes and think of Italy, the image you see is definitely of Tuscany. But it's not just the beautiful countryside that accounts for the area's popularity. Centuries of culture, great food, atmosphere, fashion, delicious wines and picture-perfect villages all help make Tuscany Italy's most popular region. Discover the highlights of Tuscany on our Cycling Holidays in Tuscany - Nature, Culture and Chianti or our Cycling Holidays along the Tuscany Coast. It's fantastic!

Piedmont

Piedmont is unknown to many and perhaps even quite underrated. However, the region has a lot to offer! If you are particularly fond of good food, this region is one of Italy's hidden treasures. True Piedmont fans often take the view that you haven't really visited Italy until you've experienced the flourishing rice fields, enjoyed the views of the Barolo region and sipped a glass of red wine while savouring the myriad truffle delicacies invented by Piedmontese chefs. Explore Piedmont on our Piedmont cycling holiday. You certainly won't be disappointed!

Umbria

Umbria - the heart of Italy and the only region that doesn't border either the sea or another country. It's not for nothing that Umbria is also known as the green heart of Italy. The region is particularly famous for its beautiful hilly landscape and unspoilt valleys and mountain areas. On our cycling holiday from Florence to Rome, you'll see the region at its best - Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Lake Trasimeno - and one beautiful place after another.
