- Experience natural beauty and culture in the jewel of the Alps -
The Dolomites are one of Europe's most iconic mountain ranges and a true hiking paradise. With their dramatic peaks, lush valleys and incredible natural beauty, the Dolomites are a destination that appeals to nature lovers, adventurers and cultured travellers. At Bering Travel, we invite you to explore this magnificent region on a self-guided walking holiday where you can immerse yourself in the unique culture and breathtaking landscapes.
The Dolomites, part of the Italian Alps, are known for their distinctive limestone rocks and stunning rock formations. They are also recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's not hard to understand why. The region is filled with endless trails and routes that take you through alpine terrain, dense forests, lush meadows and past impressive mountain peaks. A walking holiday in the Dolomites is an opportunity to explore this extraordinary landscape in your own way.
Although the Dolomites are known for their natural beauty, the region also has a deep and rich culture. This area has been home to people for centuries, and their culture and traditions are woven into the mountains and valleys. On your walking holiday, you'll have the opportunity to visit charming villages where local residents welcome you with hospitality and authentic culinary experiences.
Food and wine play a crucial role in the culture of the Dolomites. The region is known for its delicious cookery, including speck (smoked ham), cheese, fresh ravioli and a variety of delicious desserts. While hiking through the valleys, you can visit local restaurants and vineyards and sample some of the best dishes and wines the Dolomites have to offer. It's a chance to experience the true flavour of the region.
Another remarkable cultural aspect of the Dolomites is their language. In the region, people speak Ladin, an ancient romance language that is an important part of their cultural heritage. You can find Ladin in signs, local traditions and maybe even in conversations with locals. It's a reminder of the richness and uniqueness of the area.

Active holiday in the Dolomites
Walking holidays in the Dolomites
We have several different walking holidays in the Dolomites right from the hiking holidays in the Dolomites Nature Parks and Alta Via, where you gain a lot of altitude to the slightly more relaxing tours, where you either hike from Austria to the Dolomites or walk from Meran to Lake Garda. All hiking holidays are recommended as they all offer good hiking routes and the amazing scenery of the Dolomites.
Cycling holidays in the Dolomites
Cycling holidays are amazing in the Dolomites. For example, we can recommend our new bike ride, which is designed for electric bicycle, because the stages are between 45km and 90km per day. This way you really get around the area and experience it all from the best angle.
Mountain biking in the Dolomites is also an exciting experience and if you want to challenge yourself, you should definitely consider this. The tour is based in Toblach, from where you go every day on exciting MTB tracks in the area.
Luggage transport
All trips include luggage transport from hotel to hotel and that means our guests do not have to worry about having to carry luggage all the way. On the other hand, you have peace of mind and can just walk or cycle and enjoy the amazing experience in the Dolomites.
How tough are the trips?
The Dolomites are mountains, so the difficulty is considerable, but that said, we also have grade 2 experiences, where we believe that most will be able to join. It is, for example, the hiking holiday from the Dolomites to Lake Garda, where despite the relatively easy hike you get to experience fantastic scenery and beautiful little villages.
How to get there?
The easiest way to reach the Dolomites is to fly to either Venice or Milan, from where it is possible to rent a car, take a bus or a train to the mountains. We recommend renting a car at the airport as it is the easiest. On those of our trips where you do not start and end at the same place, we offer transport back from the last hotel to the first hotel.
You are very welcome to contact us if you would like to know more about traveling to the Dolomites.
