Diving holidays in Jordan
World famous dive sites in Jordan
The Red Sea off the coast of Jordan is home to amazing and exciting wildlife, which is an experience in itself. In addition, when diving in Jordan you can also experience distinctive man-made dive sites. For example, you can dive around and explore a tank or shipwreck up close underwater. But you also have the opportunity to experience the impressive ruins of Petra, which has been named one of the new wonders by UNESCO.
Aqaba, for example, is not a diving destination you hear much about in Denmark, but here you can enjoy peace and quiet while experiencing coral reefs that rival any place in the world when it comes to intact and colourful corals. Here you can dive peacefully and enjoy the zebra-striped fish and sea anemones undulating in the water. Maybe you'll even sense a moray eel staring at you from its hiding place. Who knows? There is a good variety of both soft and hard corals here. They are found in concentrations not found anywhere else in the Red Sea. There are large areas of soft corals, huge clumps and columns of beautiful massive corals and giant salad coral formations.
The fish selection is similar to that found elsewhere in the Red Sea, including angelfish, butterflyfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, parrotfish and moray eels.
All diving in Jordan takes place on the coastline of the Gulf of Aqaba. It only stretches a modest 27 kilometres, but despite this, many of the best dive sites in the northern part of the Red Sea can be found here.
Although Jordan is a country where water scarcity is a known problem, it doesn't mean that diving opportunities are limited. Despite Jordan's short coastline, there's a world of experiences just waiting to be explored. So what are you waiting for?
