The route
The daily hikes require good stamina and a solid basic fitness level. The routes follow a mix of well-maintained mountain paths, hiking trails and gravel roads with sections where sure-footedness is required. Some sections can be shortened by using public transport or shuttle buses.
Itinerary
Explore the small town on the shores of the glacial lake on the edge of Triglav National Park, with a castle high above and the famous island in the centre of the lake. This is a key photo opportunity in Slovenia.

You'll be driven from Bled to Kranjska Gora, starting at the picturesque Jasna Lake, whose clear waters are reflected in the surrounding mountains. From there, head up to the Vršič Pass, the highest mountain pass in Slovenia, where you'll be greeted by breathtaking mountain panoramas. On the descent to Trenta you can explore the Soča spring, where the crystal clear waters of the river begin and flow into the turquoise Soča. It's an unforgettable hike through one of Slovenia's most stunning landscapes.

On the Queen Stage in the Soča Valley, you'll cross several suspension bridges that offer spectacular views of the sparkling river. Along the way, you'll come across the impressive Soča Gorges, natural waterholes carved into the rock by the river that are truly impressive. Especially on hot summer days, dipping into the cool waters of the Soča is a real highlight. Bovec, the destination of your hike, is a well-known destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

At the start of the tour you'll encounter the mysterious Virje Waterfall, a hidden natural wonder amidst lush vegetation, and soon after the mighty Boka Waterfall, one of Slovenia's highest and most powerful waterfalls, where water thunders down into the depths. Continue through dense forests and along the Soča River, passing numerous picturesque bathing spots and impressive natural scenery until you reach the charming town of Kobarid.

In the morning, you'll be taken to Most na Soči train station. Sit back and enjoy the scenic train ride through the beautiful valleys of the Julian Alps and over Slovenia's longest railway bridge. From Bohinjska Bistrica, the hike continues through the picturesque Bohinj Valley, past fields, meadows and traditional Slovenian farms, leading to the charming Bohinj Lake. Enjoy the mountain scenery around the lake or visit the beautiful lakeside church.

From the shores of Lake Bohinj you'll ascend to the heights of the Pokljuka plateau, a vast area known for its spruce forests, meadows and biathlon arena. The trail leads you through charming small villages and dense forests with views of the Bohinj Valley and the surrounding mountains. Along the way, traditional shepherd's huts invite you to rest and savour local delicacies. Once you reach the summit, you'll spend the night in the middle of nature and breathe in the refreshing, clear mountain air.

From the plateau with its expansive meadows, you'll hike along varied trails down to the fascinating Pokljuka gorge. After the descent you'll reach Bled, famous for its lake, historic island church and castle. Instead of going straight down, you can climb to the top of Viševnik, which is over 2,000 metres high. You'll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the Triglav massif, the Karavanke mountains and the surrounding Alpine peaks. Afterwards, take a shuttle bus to Bled.

The price is based upon two people sharing. It is also possible travel alone in a single room. Simply choose "1 person" in the booking form and it will automatically add the single room surcharge.
On this tour you will be on your own supplied with maps, route descriptions and luggage transfers. That means that your time is your own and you have plenty of time to enjoy the stages in your own pace.

When you book, we will start booking hotels and arranging all the practical details of the trip. This process typically takes 2-5 working days, but some bookings may take longer. If you are arranging your own transport, we recommend that you wait until we have confirmed your booking before arranging this.
Dates
If you can select the date in the tour calendar at the top of this page, this is a possible start date. We continually update the tours with sold-out dates, after which those dates will turn red and cannot be selected.
The flights to/from Ljubljana (closest airport are not included in the price. You can easily find a suitable flight via a flight booking engine such as Momondo or Skyscanner.

Please note that we add a handling fee of 45 euro to each flight and this means that the flight will be cheaper if you book it yourself.
If you're driving
This journey starts and ends in Bled, so it's ideal to drive yourself. It is possible to park at the hotel in Bled, at a cost of approximately 10-15 euros per day.
Local transport
If you're flying into Ljubljana, you can take a train or taxi to and from Bled. Get an overview via this link: Rome2Rio.
You will stay four nights in 3- or 4-star hotels and one night in a guesthouse/inn (Trenta).
Breakfast is included every day. It is possible to stock up for the hikes before you set out. Some hotels will also be able to organise a packed lunch for you (for a fee). Dinner is also easy to find in the towns where you stay or at the hotels.
Luggage transfer is included on this tour. Upon arrival at the first hotel you will be given luggage tags along with the rest of the welcome package. You fill out the luggage tags and put them on your bags where they will remain for the duration of the tour.
Your luggage is picked up from the hotel lobby around 9am every morning and will arrive at your next hotel at 6pm at the latest (often long before that). If there are any special exceptions to the luggage transfer you will be notified upon arrival.
Luggage transfer includes one bag per guest and the bags can weigh 20kg each.

Upon booking
Immediately after booking this trip, you'll recieve a pre-booking-email where you can get a complete overview of your booking. Once the tour is confirmed you get a confirmation email from us along with practical information about the tour.
One month before departure
You will receive a hotel list and final travel documents.
Upon arrival at the first hotel
You'll receive the welcome pack, which contains everything you need for the trip. There will be route descriptions, maps, luggage tags and specific local vouchers. The documents are in English.
Notice: On some tours it is necessary to either print the documents yourself or to bring them electronically.
The day trips described in the program are grade 3.
Grade 3
Hiking in mountainous terrain with longer ascents and descents. You will hike 5-7 hours a day. Requires generally good fitness and health, but no special technical skills or prior experience. Requires good shoes, such as trekking or mountain boots.
