More about the route
You walk along good mountain paths with wonderful views of the Julian Alps. In some places it is necessary to be sure-footed. You will cross a short section (approx. 20m) where you walk along a narrow path on a rocky cliff, with iron chains for support (see video below, fast forward to min. 02.03). We do not recommend this hike if you are afraid of heights. You should be able to manage daily hikes of 4 to 7 hours.
Itinerary
Here you can see the programme for the week.
Idyllic Bled with its deep blue lake and Triglav National Park invite you to explore in the evening. You should try the regional cuisine.
Hotel (example): Hotel Savica
You start the day with a transfer to Mrzli Studenec on the Pokljuka Plateau (1,280 m) - the starting point for many hikes in the Julian Alps. Your first hike is through pine forests and wide alpine meadows. Walk up to the Lipanška ko?a hut and stop for a delicious meal. In the afternoon, hike on a panoramic path.
Hotel (example): Hotel Center Pokljuka
Today you reach the heart of the Julian Alps - at the foot of Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav, via an easy climb up to the Vodnik hut. Today's destination is the Planika hut, located directly on the south face of Triglav. The hut is an ideal starting point for climbing Triglav (this will require an extra night and alpine experience!).
Important: Today your luggage will be picked up in Pokljuka and will be stored in Bled until you reach Bohinj on day 6. This means that from today you will need to be packed for the next three days in the mountains.
Climbing Triglav: On the booking form, you can choose to climb Triglav. This means that there is an extra night on the tour. The climb includes the necessary equipment and a certified IFGMA guide.

Cross the Hribarice Pass (2,358 m) in the direction of the Triglav Lakes. Enjoy the wonderful beauty of the seven lakes of Triglav National Park. Along a wide path a wonderful view of the valley with the beautiful lakes awaits you.

You hike further west and finally reach Schwarzsee - the deepest of the Triglav lakes. The lake is warm and has a unique flora and fauna. You can enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Bohinj from your accommodation, the Komna cabin.

From Komna you walk along the old military street to the Savica waterfall, a well-known and popular waterfall in Slovenia. The waterfall, 78 metres long and flowing into the mighty Bohinjer Lake, is fed by a karst spring. From here it is a short walk along the water's edge. In summer, the lake invites you to take a dip in its crystal-clear waters. You stay overnight on the lake's eastern shore in the cosy village of Ribcev Laz. Try one of the local bars serving tasty mead or homemade schnapps.
Hotel (example): Hotel Jezero
Today you have time to enjoy the lake, or you can lace up your hiking boots again and hike into the upper Bohinj Valley. Through idyllic villages, you climb Rudnica Hill, which dominates the valley. At the end of your walk, enjoy the view of the lake and the mountains around you.

The journey is now over. You leave the last hotel in the morning.
