The route
The route follows marked mountain and hiking trails. The tour is suitable for anyone in generally good physical health. It is not necessary to be able to climb. Larger climbs are handled by cable car and it is possible to shorten the day trips by using public transport or taxi. We recommend that children are at least 14 years old to go on this tour.
Itinerary
You will arrive at the first hotel in Kitzbühel. If you arrive by car, it is possible to park in a free public car park close to the first hotel. The car park cannot be reserved in advance.

The hike starts from Kitzbühel, where you walk quietly under the Kitzbüheler Südberge. You pass small villages and farms with beautiful flowers. Aurach in Tyrol exudes atmosphere and it is not without reason that the famous Kitzbüheler artist Alfons Walde chose the town's church and square as his motif again and again. You'll continue your hike to Jochberg, where you'll spend the night.
Hotel (example): Gasthof Jodlbühel***
The day starts with a transfer to the start of today's route. You'll hike over lush pastures and continue your journey up into the beautiful mountains. Remember to enjoy the tranquillity and stunning scenery. Via Gauxjoch you continue to Trattenbachalm and Hartkaserhöhe. Here you'll hike along the border between Tyrol and Salzburg. If you want to avoid the descent from Resterhöhe, you can use the cable car instead (not included in the price). From Resterhöhe, take the bus to Mittersill.
Today you can choose between two different routes. The short one is 4-5 hours and the long one is 5-6 hours
Hotel (example): Hotel Heitzmann****
Start your day with a transfer from Mittersill to Matreier Tauernhaus. If you want, you can also choose to hike from Hintersee via Felbertauern and the St. Pöltener Hut to Matreier Tauernhaus.
The hike starts with a gradual ascent across meadows and through larch forests to Venedigerblick. At the highest point, you'll have a fantastic view of the glacier landscape at Großvenediger. Continue along the path to Innergschlöss and over the beautiful cairns, ending back at Matreier Tauernhaus, from where you take the bus to Matrei.
Hotel (example): Hotel Hinteregger***
After breakfast and a short bus ride, today's hike starts in Mariahilf. Along dark forest paths you hike up to the first settlements and the Gsieser Törl, which was used by smugglers between the 1920s and 1930s. From here you have views across the valley to the Dolomites. On the way to the village of Gsiesertal, you'll pass several mountain huts such as Oberberg, Kradorferalm and Messner-hütte, where they serve delicious local food.
Hotel (example): Aparthotel Germania***
The route takes you further and further south and now the Dolomites are just a stone's throw away. From the Gsiesertal Valley, the route climbs gently and steadily to Frondeign. The hike is mostly through dark forests.
If you prefer a slightly tougher hike today, you can take the route towards Schuieralm. The path winds down to Wahlen. The valley widens and offers excellent views of the Neunerkofel, Haunold, Dürrenstein and Höhlenstein valley.
You'll start your hike at the Auronzo hut. Take the bus up there (not included in the price). Hike along the southern part of the Three Peaks towards the Lavaredo Hut and from there along a small path to Paternsattel. Here, at 2,454 metres above sea level, you can enjoy magnificent views of the 500-metre-high northern rock face of the Three Peaks. You'll hike on to Lange Alm and end up back at the start of the route.
You can choose between two different routes.
