Dear All
I'm writing to you with some big news.
As many of you are probably aware, we have always had two brands. One is Mountain Adventures, where we sell hiking holidays, cycling holidays and mountaineering and the other is Bering Travel, where we sell surfing holidays, yoga holidays and diving holidays.
We've had a plan for years to merge Bering Travel and Mountain Adventures into one brand, and the coronavirus means that now is the perfect time to do it.
Our new name will therefore be BERING TRAVEL and our website will be www.beringtravel.com
I have to mention something about our new logo that I'm particularly excited about. The symbol is a variation of the old Viking compass described in the Huld Manuscript from Iceland, where Geir Vigfusson compiled older texts into a single work in 1880. Along with the image of the compass it reads:
‘if this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known’
And that's why this logo fits us perfectly.
We are still the same people and we still have the same journeys. The activities we will focus on are
Walking holidays
Cycling holidays
Mountain climbing holidays
Yoga holidays
Diving holidays
Surfing holidays
In short, we will continue to focus exclusively on active holidays as we still believe that this is the best way to great experiences.
What will be the biggest changes going forward?
Back to the old website
Our old website has been refreshed a bit in terms of colours, but apart from that you probably won't notice much difference from our current one in terms of navigating around the site.
One of the big changes will be the booking form, which was simpler and clearer in the old system. It's going to be really good.
Going back to our old booking system
Our old website used our self-developed booking system and we're going back to that too. This change means that new bookings will no longer receive an E-ticket and that all travel documents will instead be found on your ‘my trip’ page. This is in many ways an upgrade, I think, as the old one was more manageable.
The change also means that our emails are no longer automated, so you won't receive payment reminders, for example. This means that it's now up to you to keep an eye on the payment deadline (which is on the e-ticket you received earlier - this will also be on your new ‘my trip’ page).
Your bookings are already created in the old system and when we go live with the change we will send you new confirmation emails. We will do this for everyone, regardless of whether it's a booking later in the year or one of the bookings we had to cancel due to corona.
You'll know that the change to the old system has been made when you receive a new confirmation email from us.
New contact details (will also be available on the website)

Flights cannot be included automatically
The only reason we moved to our new booking system was so that we would be able to offer flights automatically when you book travel. Our old system can't do this and going forward you will have to book quotes to get the flights included.
Actually, this is a really good thing as we can ensure that we always offer the cheapest version of the best flights. For example, our current system always finds ‘the fastest flight connection’ and doesn't find the flight that is five minutes shorter and also direct, even if it costs less. In the future, we will do this manually and this also means that we can provide the right service for you.
We hope you like our new (old) site and please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
