Sådan finder du lynhurtigt den bedste flyrejse

Here you will get specific tips on how to quickly find the best flight to your desired destination. It is very simple and straightforward.

It can be a jungle to find the best flight, and there are always several factors to consider. These are, for example, questions like: Are there direct flights? When do they fly? And where is the ticket cheapest? It can be difficult to get a complete overview of the options, and somehow you often end up with the feeling that you could have gotten a much better deal if you'd just spent a little more time searching online. In the following post, I explain how you can quickly find the best flight yourself.

First, a myth: Travel agencies have access to cheaper flights
All flight tickets today are booked through so-called GDS systems, with the largest being Amadeus and Galileo. For example, when you search on Momondo, you'll see flights from companies that all book their flights through these very systems. This means everyone has the same prices on flights, and the only variation is the profit margin of the companies. For this reason, it's always cheapest to book your flight yourself, and it's a good idea to find your flight via a site like Momondo, where most ticket providers advertise.

The exceptions
Of course, there are exceptions to this. For example, if a travel agency has pre-booked seats on a flight (called allotments), their prices on those tickets are likely to be cheaper than the seats you can find online. These tickets can become even cheaper if the agency doesn’t sell them and offers them as last-minute deals. Allotments are usually not available on sites like Momondo.

Additionally, charter companies often charter entire planes at once. They control the ticket prices themselves, and therefore, they can sometimes be cheaper than scheduled flights. Charter tickets are usually not available on Momondo.

The best flight

When I need to find the best flight, I always do the following:

#1: Overview of options
The first step is to find out if there are direct flights to the destination and when they depart. You can do this through the website: FlightConnections.com

For example, if you want to fly to Pisa, find Pisa on the map (or type it in the search bar at the top).

Once you’ve found Pisa, you can now see all the direct connections to Pisa.

Zoom in on the destination you want to depart, in this case Denmark, to see the available options.

And finally, check the days of the week when flights depart from the various airports.

Now you have an overview of which days to search for and which airlines operate the flights. Remember, this overview only shows scheduled flights. Charter flights are not included. We have created an overview of charter flights at the bottom of this page.

#2: Find and book your flight

The search process can feel endless, and I strongly advise against searching on Google for something like "cheap flight to Pisa." The results from such a search are guaranteed not to be the cheapest, and there’s no assurance that they even offer flights to Pisa. Stick to using well-known tools:

Momondo
Some people believe that Momondo sells flights. They don’t. Momondo is simply a platform where companies selling flights can advertise their products. As mentioned above, all companies pay the same price for the flight, so the only difference is the profit margin they choose to add. That’s why on Momondo, you’ll see that prices from different companies vary only by a few kroner.

One of the annoyances (for me) when using Momondo is that I don’t always feel confident that the listed price is the correct one. Sometimes luggage isn’t included, or the company adds many fees during the booking process. Nevertheless, Momondo is still the best tool if you’re looking to find the absolute cheapest flight.

When you book one of our trips without a flight

If you book a trip with Bering Rejser and handle the transport yourself, it’s best to check the flight details before you book the trip. The process should be as follows:

  1. Find a flight that matches your desired trip with us (without booking it).
  2. Book the trip with us.
  3. We confirm your trip (usually within 48 business hours), and then you book your flight.

Note that you can always request a quote from us and ask us to include the flight in the price. Just be aware that the flight will cost more than if you booked it yourself.
