Easy trekking in the Atlas Mountains and days in Marrakech

A lovely trekking tour in the Atlas Mountains with local guide, followed by three days in Marrakech. This tour is for the one who wants to experience wild nature, berber villages and exciting Marrakech.

8 Days / 7 Nights
Moderate

Morocco is a place that everyone should experience. On this journey you will see the impressive mountains with the authentic berber-villages and the old royal city of Marrakech with all it's sounds, scents and experiences. This tour starts in the mountain village of Imlil which is considered to be the gateway to the High Atlas Mountains. This is where most of the trekking tours in the Atlas Mountains start.

While your luggage is being transported on mules,  you will calmly walk along small paths, through berber-villages where the local hospitality will make a big impression. During the walk, your guide will tell you about the area, the villages, and present you for the local customs. Besides your private guide, you will also have a cook with you on the trek who will delight you with exciting local dishes.

After finishing your walk in the mountains it is time to visit the colorful city of Marrakech. You are free to decide what you want to do and we are convinced that you will not get bored.

This trip is possible all year round, but between November and early April there can be snow in the mountains and it is necessary to bring warm clothes and a warm sleeping bag on the trek. Marrakech is always nice and warm.

The process of your booking
When you book, we will start booking hotels and arranging all the practical details of the trip. This process typically takes 2-5 working days, but some bookings may take longer. If you are arranging your own transport, we recommend that you wait until we have confirmed your booking before arranging this.

Dates
If you can select the date in the tour calendar at the top of this page, this is a possible start date. We continually update the tours with sold-out dates, after which those dates will turn red and cannot be selected.

The flights to/from Marrakech are not included in the price. You can easily find a suitable flight via a flight booking engine such as Momondo or Skyscanner.

Notice: we recommend that you book with us and wait for the confirmation before you book your flight.

  2. We confirm your holiday (usually within 3-4 business days)
  3. You arrange your transportation

Airport transfers
When you arrive at the airport you will be picked up and driven to the hotel in Marrakech. You will also be driven back after the trip ends.

Get a quote
If you prefer that we handle your flight, then we would be happy to arrange this for you. You simply book a quote below the map on this page and we will return with a quote as soon as possible (usually within 48 working hours). Please note that we add a handling fee of 45 euro to each flight and this means that the flight will be cheaper if you book it yourself.

In Imlil, you will be accommodated in a lodge where you'll have a double room with a private bathroom/toilet. In the villages, you'll stay in local guesthouses in double rooms with shared bathroom/toilet facilities. During the winter months, we recommend bringing a lightweight sleeping bag - this can also be rented from us.

The small guesthouses lack heating, which can result in cold conditions in January/February.

In Marrakech, you'll stay in a so-called "riad," which is a traditional Moroccan house with a courtyard in the middle open to the sky. The décor typically features warm natural colors, lots of cushions, mosaics, furniture, and wrought-iron railings. The riad is within walking distance to Djemaa el Fna square and the souk.

On the booking form, you can choose to upgrade the nights in Marrakech to Superior rooms at Riad Africa.

While you are in the mountains, all meals are included. You'll have a private chef with you on the trip, who will ensure good food for you. If you have any special dietary requests, simply note them in the message field when booking your trip.

In Marrakech, breakfast is included, and you'll find a variety of dining options very close by.

A typical day of trekking begins with a wake-up time between 06:00am to 6:30am. Once you are dressed and have eaten breakfast, you will pack your luggage and start walking around 08:00 am. Around noon you will have a nice long lunch break before continuing on the afternoon walking stretch. You will usually arrive at the place of accommodation in the afternoon.

This journey has difficulty level 2

Grade 2
Easy hiking on reasonably good trails. The day walks will last 4-6 hours in hilly terrain. Anyone in good physical condition can participate. Your luggage will be transported and you only carry a light daypack. Requires comfortable footwear such as trekking shoes or hiking boots.

Read more about our grading system here.

It is possible to bring children on this trip, and if you do, we will provide extra mules so they have something to ride on if they get tired. Depending on the number of mules we have, it may be necessary for the children to take turns riding.

Because the children must be able to sit on a mule by themselves, we do not recommend bringing children under 6 years old.

Age:

0-5 years: Not recommended
6-11 years: x Euro
12+ years: Full price

Note: On our booking form, you can only select "adults," and the system cannot automatically calculate the child discount. Therefore, just write the details of the children's ages, birth dates, and any desired room arrangements in the message field when booking the trip. We will adjust the price accordingly afterward.

It is important to be aware that it is your own responsibility when you choose to bring children on the trips. You should check the descriptions of the difficulty levels and assess whether the specific trip is suitable for your child.
