When you book a trip to the United Kingdom, you should be aware of the new entry permit rules. We have compiled a brief overview to help guide you below.

rom 2025, a lot of nationalities (included EU-citizens), will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the United Kingdom. This applies regardless of the purpose of travel—whether for tourism, business, or visiting family and friends.

This requirement also affects our hiking trips in England and Scotland. To participate in these tours, please ensure you obtain an ETA before your departure. It is recommended to apply well in advance to avoid delays or issues at the border.

The ETA application is completed online and requires:

  • A valid passport with at least six months' validity after returning from your trip
  • A photo of yourself, a recent passport photo, or take a picture with the camera on your device
  • Payment of a fee (currently £10)
  • (Note) Approval may take up to 3 days

The ETA allows multiple entries into the UK for stays of up to 180 days and is valid for two years.

More information on how to apply and what details are needed can be found on the official UK government website: www.gov.uk

This is also where you will submit your ETA application once the system is available for your nationality.

On this website you can read more about which nationalities require an ETA

If you have any questions or need assistance with the application, we recommend contacting your local British embassy.

You are also welcome to contact us, and we will assist you as much as possible.
