It was, of course, in the Austrian mountains. Emperor Franz Josef was an avid hunter and spent many hours in the forests around his beloved Bad Ischl. The stunning scenery, magnificent mountains, historic buildings in the modern towns and the delicious food are the components that make Austria so charming. And once you really experience Austria, you won't want to wander anywhere else. Whether in the picturesque Salzkammergut, in the Salzburg region, in the Tyrolean mountains, along the beautiful Danube or in the impressive Austrian Alps, there is a fantastic experience in store. We guarantee it!
Mozart's city, Salzburg and its surroundings is one of the most pleasant areas in Austria. High mountains, dark valleys, culture and wonderful landscapes await the hikers who head to the Salzburg region.
Famous Salzkammergut stretches in three Austrian provinces: Salzburg, Upper Austria and Styria. There are as many as 80 incredibly beautiful lakes in the area. It's no wonder the Austrian Emperor spent his holidays here every year. Beautiful hikes such as the Salzkammergut hiking tour and the Pilgrimage of St James take place right here in the majestic beauty.
When you think of Tyrol, you immediately think of high mountains, lush meadows, grazing cows and cosy alpine huts. And that's exactly the recipe for a perfect walking holiday. The climate in Austria is ideal for hiking. Of course, it can rain occasionally, but in general the climate is pleasant in this mountainous country. Austria usually offers sunny spring days with pleasant temperatures. Summer can be very hot in Austria, especially in the eastern part of the country. Fortunately, there is almost always a lake where you can cool off. Autumn is also quite pleasant and perfect for hiking. Don't forget your rain gear in autumn, though. After all, green forests and lush meadows need a rinse now and then.
Granted, not all famous Austrian dishes were invented in Austria. Influences from Bohemia, Bavaria, Italy and Hungary have helped shape and transform Austrian cuisine into what it is today. Of course you know delicacies like wienerschnitzel, gulash, ham with cabbage and 'dumplings' (a kind of large dumplings) and the famous Sacher Torte. But have you ever tried Tafelspitz (boiled beef with horseradish and vegetables), heard of Topfenknockerln (sweet 'dumplings') or tasted Innviertler Bratknödel ('dumplings' filled with meat)? The list of delicious dishes is long. Look forward to many traditional, creative and innovative dishes and specialities. And don't expect to lose weight on a trip to Austria!

Have you heard the expression "Alles Walzer"? When you hear these two words in Austria, it can make a whole company stand up and take dance holds of each other. The name Vals (Waltz) comes from the expression ' auf die Waltz gehen', which means 'to walk on the waltz' - that is, to move. At 60 beats per minute, the Viennese Waltz is the fastest dance in modern dance competitions. The popular dance was invented in the 1700s and became a global phenomenon in the 1800s with musical numbers such as 'An der schönen, blauen Donau' (The Beautiful Blue Danube) by Johan Strauss Sohn. The fine dance is undoubtedly a big part of Austrian culture.
